Seminar Pricing (What does a seminar cost?)

Our public seminars vary in price depending on such things as the topic presented; All our seminars come with a "fourth person in a group attends for free" offer when everyone in the group is registered and paid in advance.  This 4th person free pricing can also be viewed as a 25% discount for all 4 attendees plus everyone registered together and paid in advance after the 4th person also receives the same 25% discount!  To find the price of a particular seminar please go to the top of this page and click on the map.  When a larger version of the map appears simply click on the state where you would be attending to find the price of that particular seminar.  Our on-site seminars are also very reasonably priced at only $2,995 - it is our mission to provide the highest quality nursing professional development programs at the lowest price possible.  Click here for information on on-sites and on-site pricing (don't forget to also check if we are offering any special on-site discounts).

Can I register now and pay later?

Yes.  This is an excellent idea since it will guarantee you a space and help to assure that the seminar leader will have your Certificate of Attendance to give you the day of the seminar.  You can register now on this website (click on the map above to find your seminar and city) and pay later.

I didn’t get a confirmation. Why not?

You may not be registered or you may have been registered by someone else (accounting, administration, your manager, another member of your group). When someone else registers you, they receive the confirmation. We ask them to give or send copies to everyone attending but sometimes this doesn’t happen. You can call us toll free at 1-800-815-9379 and we will be pleased to confirm the status of your registration.  The confirmation is sent as an email attachment so if you received a "blank" email check for the attachment and click on it for your confirmation.

Can I pay at the door?

Yes, but we would prefer you didn’t since it can cause delays.  Certain forms of payment are not accepted at the door.  If you are not pre-registered there is always the possibility we may not have space available. You can call us the business day before the seminar to pay by credit card but please register in advance to save your spot. We want your seminar leader to be able to focus on checking people in and performing all their other responsibilities before the seminar begins.  This helps assure that everyone attending has a wonderful day. Please be aware that you can only pay by business check or money order at the door. If you wish to use a credit card, the seminar leader will have you call our 800 number to charge your card and receive an admittance number. We do not accept personal checks at the door (see the question immediately below for more information on personal checks) . Sometimes a seminar leader will accept cash, but they are not required to do so.  This is entirely up to the leader so we can not promise in advance that they would be willing to accept cash.  (Also see “Can I just show up the day of the seminar?” for more information.)

Can I pay with a personal check?

We are only able to accept personal checks if we receive them in our offices at least five business days before the seminar you will be attending.  We do not accept personal checks at the door.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept credit cards (American Express, Diner’s Club, Discover, MasterCard and Visa), business checks, money orders and personal checks (see additional information about personal checks directly above).  We also accept Purchase Orders (if given in advance of the seminar and we are provided with a PO number and contact information).  You can register and pay with a credit card for one of our seminars right here on this website - just click on the map located on the top upper right of this page.  When the larger map appears click on the state you would be attending in to find the location and seminar you want to attend.

Can I split up a group between different locations and still get the group discount pricing?

Yes, if the locations all appear on the same brochure’s “Dates and Locations” listing (usually page 6 of our brochures).  You can split up these groups any way you would like.  For example, with a group of four, all four people can go to different locations and yet still receive the group discount pricing!

You cannot, howver, split up groups between different brochures (even if the seminar topic is the same), nor can you split up groups between different seminar titles.

Can we have this seminar presented at our facility?

Yes.  For on-site information, please call our offices Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm (EST) or click here for more details.

Can I just show up the day of the seminar?

Yes, but doing so may mean we do not have space available to admit you. Although this doesn’t happen all that often, it can happen. By not registering in advance, you will also not receive your Certificate of Attendance and contact hours earned that day (we would mail this to you after the seminar).  Please be aware that we do not accept cash or personal checks at the door.  You may pay with a business check, money order or credit card.  If paying with a credit card however you will be directed to call our 800 number where we will verify your payment and issue you an admittance number which lets the seminar leader know it is okay to admit you.  In such a situation you may find it easier to call us before 5pm Eastern Time the day before the seminar and get all this taken care of then (we will immediately send a receipt to you via email or fax).

Please be aware of the following additional, but admittedly rare, situations that you could encounter by not registering in advance. Sometimes a seminar has to be canceled because people waited too long to register, which means you could show up and no one would be there. Sometimes the seminar times have to be altered slightly due to circumstances beyond our control. Once in awhile, a hotel name will change or an unfortunate circumstance (such as a fire) may require us to move the seminar to a different location.  If you are not pre-registered, we would have no way of course of contacting you to inform you of such changes.

Can people attend who do not work in nursing or healthcare in general?

Yes, as long as they understand that the specific examples provided in the seminar will all be nursing-oriented. When we have had non-healthcare people attend in the past they have always enjoyed and benefited from the seminars they attended.   No one can attend our seminars however without paying even if they are only accompanying you and/or do not work in healthcare.

What are the seminar times?

We begin checking people in at 8:15 a.m. (often our seminar leaders will admit people much earlier than this).  The seminar itself begins at 8:40 a.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m.  We have a morning and afternoon break, plus a break for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  In rare situations, we have to slightly modify these times.  When you register, a confirmation will be sent to you making you aware of any changes.   On-site seminars usually have different times.

Is breakfast included in the seminar fee?

To help encourage people to arrive as close to 8:15am as possible 99% of the time we provide morning beverage service (generally coffee and decaf coffee) and either a danish or bagel for early arrivers.   When people arrive a little early it facilitates a smooth check-in process and an on time start of the seminar.  If breakfast food service is a concern for you, please call our office and we will be happy to share with you what pre-seminar food and beverage service will be provided.  (By the way, when you purchase your own meal it may qualify as a tax deduction related to educational professional development expense.)

Is lunch included in the seminar fee?

No, but we always try to book seminars with eating facilities and/or restaurants close by.  Your seminar leader will have this information and will make an announcement in the morning of available options.  Some meeting locations also provide pre-order menus, which allow participants who wish to order their lunch in advance to do so.   By the way, when you purchase your own meal it may qualify as a tax deduction related to educational professional development expense (save your receipts!).

How long is the lunch break?

Ninety-nine percent of the time our lunch break is one hour and starts at 11:30 am.  If we had to change the lunch times at a specific location we would share that with you in your confirmation letter (which is sent to the person who registered you) and/or at the start of the seminar.

Is a sleeping room included in the seminar fee?

No, but you can often get a discounted price if you mention you are attending our seminar.  Please be aware that sometimes you may find a very low rate on internet sites that may be non-refundable. You may not want to take advantage of these non-refundable rates in case you had to cancel or in the very rare situation where we had to cancel the seminar.  The usually small savings is probably not worth it.

How can I get directions to the meeting location?

Register for the seminar (on-line, by mail, via fax or call us).  Within one business day, if not sooner, we will send you a confirmation letter that includes detailed driving instructions including parking information.

Can I bring a guest, my driver or my child with me to the seminar?

Only if you pay for each person to attend.  Our seminars are inappropriate for children to attend.  Anyone sitting in the meeting room must be registered and paid for, or they are not allowed to be in the meeting room.   In any case children under 15 can not attend and anyone who is disruptive to the professional learning environment will be asked to leave (and their tuition will not be refunded).

Can I record the seminar?

No, all our seminars, including our handout booklets, are copyrighted and may not be reproduced in any way or by any means.  Recording is disruptive and often has a chilling effect on participation.  In addition since the presentation and all our materials are copyrighted it is illegal to make such copies.  Please be aware that we will energetically protect our copyrighted materials, including the oral components of our seminars and will prosecute violators to the full extent of the law.

What happens if I have to cancel?

If you have to cancel, you can send a substitute or receive a credit certificate toward a future workshop (the certificate is good for the entire amount paid, is transferable and has no expiration date).  If you cancel more than ten business days in advance of the seminar and don’t have anyone to substitute for you, your registration fee will be refunded minus a $20 enrollment fee (or you can elect to get a credit certificate for the full amount paid).  If you cancel ten business days or less before the seminar, you can either send a substitute or receive a credit certificate (refunds are not available for cancellations made less than 10 business days before the seminar regardless of the reason for the cancellation).

Will I receive a Certificate and contact hours the day of the seminar?

Yes, if you have registered at least ten business days before the seminar. If you register later than this, you may not receive your certificate the day of the seminar (these materials are sent in advance to our seminar leaders so they will have them before leaving for the road).

Will I receive contact hours if I have to leave early?

We cannot award partial contact hours.  This is not our rule but the agencies who grant us the ability to award contact hours.  Obviously we must abide by their rules.

Who will be leading the seminar?

If you would like details on the person scheduled to lead your seminar, please call our office at 1-800-815-9379 and we will be happy to provide this information to you otherwise rest assured it will be an experienced facilitator with a nursing management background (although that may not always mean the leader is an RN).
